Seriously?!
In response to some posts earlier this afternoon, i keep getting messages stating things like “sexism is the reason transphobia exists” and “cissexism just boils down to sexism”.
I’ve responded twice now stating my opinion. I don’t believe that we can legitimately reduce these other forms of discrimination to misogyny and/or sexism. It’s not accurate and it’s not fair to those people who have to face that sort of oppression. I don’t believe we (cis women) have any place centring ourselves (via spurious “it’s just sexism”-type explanations) in discourse on modes of oppression that are not directed at us.
Cissexism is not about us. It’s so not about us. So i think it would be really neat if we stopped trying to make it about us.

being female and non-cis, i would say trans oppression is not caused by sexism, but that they are both caused by fear of ‘other’ and the need to push someone else down to create superiority.

change the “us” being spoken for here to “ciswomen” rather than “women.”
