apoopgirl replied to your post: I don’t know if your definition - even restructured - quite covers it. Sexism is at the root of a lot of things as the hatred and discrimination of the feminine. Sexism is at the root of homophobia, cissexism, transphobia, or even instances experienced by straight cis men who partake in “feminine” activities. I think you have the right idea, its just important to note that sexism is even bigger than just limiting opportunities and rights.
A lot of these isms however do boil down to devaluing feminine characteristics. I don’t think it’s the root to all of it, but there are definitely aspects of sexism in each one.
There are aspects, sure, but i don’t think it’s helpful to centre these problems around “hatred of the feminine”. I think it misunderstands how those modes of oppression word and affect people and, ultimately, i think it’s harmful.
