cambriankin asked: Did you hear about the Top Totty beer fiasco in the Houses of Parliament the other day? I don't know how I feel about the beer, although the imagery is demeaning, but it's certainly caused an explosive reaction. People are calling the MP who complained a 'hysterical woman' (along with anyone else objecting) and it's been annoying me. Worst of all, people around me make me feel like I'm overreacting & I don't know what to say in response. Do you have any insight/thoughts on this?
Well, i certainly don’t agree with calling Kate Green ‘hysterical’ (gaslighting; ugh). And i obviously believe that she was genuinely offended by it. But the reaction to this event has been disproportional on all sides. Why ban the beer? Why not just change the sign on the pump?
And—not that i’m trying to derail here, but—she really does have bigger fish to fry. She’s the Shadow Equalities Minister and she’s complaining that one of the many (NINETEEN!) taxpayer-funded-and-subsided refreshment establishments provided for the sole use of extremely overpaid MPs like her was selling (at a discount price!) a beer with a cartoon playgirl on the pump?!
