Spastic is what’s offensive. It’s a disgusting word used to dehumanise people with cerebral palsy (sometimes it’s directed at people with other impairments, or people with no impairments at all, but the ultimate referent of ‘spastic’ is ‘someone with cerebral palsy’).
I anticipate messages informing me that it’s not offensive in the US. I don’t care. In the UK one of the most offensive slurs a person can utter, and as it’s directed at people like me, i resent being told to “chill out”, “pick your battles” or be told “well technically it means ‘jerking’ so…”.
